Peplum Top (Zara - old, similar from J Crew on sale!); Pants (J Crew); Shoes (Sole Society); Link Pave Bracelet (J Crew - Gifted from Joe) |
If you are headed out after work and will not have the opportunity to pop home for a quick change, you'll want to keep your outfit simple with touches of elegance. For our recent anniversary dinner, I chose a black peplum top with a jewel detail at the neckline. A tailored black pant and my new favorite black pump completes the look. My link bracelet from Joe adds some sparkle to help it feel a bit more special.
And...I may have brought along a bright pink pencil skirt (also seen here) to change in to right before dinner. Okay, I cheated. A girl has to have options!
What He Says:
Hey, peplum! I now know what that is! It basically means "shirt with a ruffle on the bottom."
Being able to go from office-to-dinner with one outfit is a good thing. When crossing over, I think it's more difficult for Allie to find something office-appropriate than dinner-appropriate. You'll never hear me questioning Allie's dinner ensemble...but sometimes the workday equivalent can seem a little racy for the office. Fortunately there is nothing inappropriate here: basic black, relatively demure...and a high collar. Personally, I'd recommend a jacket to cover those bare arms (I know, I sound like some Amish prude), but Allie has a natural aversion to jackets. She's awesome at buying them, but not so good at wearing them. You'd think that Ohio weather would feel cool to a native Oklahoman...and you'd be right! Allie likes to not wear a jacket, and then let me know how cold it is. Good times!
I love this look! The peplum looks great!
