Black and gold is a classic combo.  Keeping a look classic and basic then means that you can venture out and give a few current trends a try.  A patterned short is huge this summer.  If you aren't feeling confident enough to pull this look off, you could always pair them with tights and boots in the fall.  The blouse is a bit "Duckie" from Pretty in Pink but that's cool with me, I always had a soft spot for Duckie.


What He Says:

Yes!  For me, black and gold immediately invokes images of the Pittsburgh Steelers.  For the uninitiated, they are the only American football team to have won six modern era championships, or "Super Bowls."  So naturally, this color combo scores a "touch-down" with me (see what I did there?).

OK, but Duckie?  Seriously?  Even when I was 13 I knew Duckie was a nerd.  And so did Andie, which is whys she was willing to bang a guy named Blane (Blane!) rather than shack up with a dude whose style featured a women's blouse, Tom Petty's sunglasses, and the worst hat in the history of hats.
