One of the perks of having creative, fun, fearless, and fashionable friends is getting to see them in action. Hang out with them long enough and you start to get a little fearless yourself. If you are headed out to watch your friend front a rock band, as she hosts an event to raise money for women fighting breast cancer, while your other two friends are walking in a fashion show featuring designs from local designer Kelli Martin...you should at least be willing to take a few fashion risks yourself. The t-shirt's theme seemed appropriate for the night and the pink denim was a nod to the color of the night; a tribute to the brave women in our area fighting cancer. It was one of the coolest nights I have ever spent in Columbus. June 1st begins Alternative Fashion Week. Head out and experience the creativity our city has to offer!

What He Says:
Hey, look at us, going to rock/fashion shows! Pretty cool eh? It was an awesome event and a fantastic cause combining killer local bands and designers and hosted by a linebacker-sized drag queen. The music and fashion actually played off of one another, as bands and designers both put a modern spin on retro tunes/looks. In my opinion, any night spent watching live music is a good time, but the runway show made it newsworthy.
Now I shall immediately turn curmudgeonly. I confess: I think the open-back t-shirt is a little much. It would be perfectly fine on some other girl, but less so on my wife. Is this a double-standard? I'm afraid it is. I even asked "so, uh...are you going to wear a tank-top under that?" But that's as far as it went. I would never try to dictate what can and can't be worn. That's a recipe for a night on the sofa, for sure. On an unrelated note, did you notice that Allie almost never wears a belt...except on a dress that has no belt loops? Is this a trend? It's like never wearing shoelaces, except on flip-flops.
