What She Says:

I first came to Columbus from Chicago 13 years ago on an assignment for my job.  I called my mother that first week and said, "Columbus is pretty great.  I could really see myself living here."  I met Joe and the rest, as they say, is history.  While I loved Chicago, Columbus has become my home.  I am always proud to show the city off to our visiting family and friends and happy when I return after being away.

Our city experienced hate and violence a few weeks ago.  Rather than focus on how a few misguided and clearly ignorant people decided to treat three men in this city, I was proud of how the people of Columbus focused on love, support, and unity.  Last Friday there was a call to wear pink and the city responded.  It was a reminder that love, respect, and kindness is what this city chooses to be known for.

I am wearing pink for my friends and neighbors.  I am wearing pink to show that I support love and respect for ALL people, for this is who we are called to be.

Now, on to the clothes!  A pink pencil skirt is fun...even just hanging in my closet it breathes life!  Paired with basics it can totally work for most office environments and transitions well if you are headed out for a cocktail right at 5:00.  I was most excited about my accessories.  Bauble Bar is quickly becoming an obsession and Courtney's collection is both edgy and classic.  I literally can't type fast enough to reach her blog everyday just to see what she is wearing.

What He Says:

Hate crimes are among the worst acts humans are capable of committing.  I don't know if we can change the attitudes of the most ignorant people on the planet, but I'm going to try. Wearing pink is a pretty simple act, but it helps convey a message of tolerance and acceptance (when done en masse; otherwise you're just a guy in a pink shirt).

But now on to the fashion!  A little bit of pink is feminine and flattering.  A lot of pink is Barbie at best and Pepto Bismol at worst.  Fortunately, Allie does it right here, complementing the skirt with a neutral shirt and shoes.  So, yeah, she looks pretty hot.  Even shooting the Ringo Starr peace sign.

  1. I LOVE it! You know I'm going to love ANYTHING pink though! You make it look fun, sassy and professional! I am sure that I have tip-toed into Pepto Bismol world with my love for pink, but I try to keep it at a healthy Barbie level ;)

ps...I want a pic of Joe in his pink!!!

  2. For the record, I DID wear a (pale) pink shirt last Friday night. And since you saw it in person, no pics necessary.
